Well....I guess everyone is against my son who is now 18. I will explain...As everyone knows from reading my post that my son has never done good in school. I even went as far as putting him on medicine which is something that I don't believe in, just so he could make good grades and put his full potential into his school work, and that still didn't work. He turned 18 in February and is still in the 10 grade, according to his homeroom class. He only has 14 credits and needs 28. He asked me if he could drop out...I said Hell no you can't! Well I thought about it and we discussed it for a couple weeks and this is what we all come up with, including the school. Since he is 18 he should sign out of school and be home schooled for a few months and get his GED. Why waist 2 more years of their time, and still not get a diploma? He hasn't liked school since the 1st grade what is going to change in the next couple of years?
Well, everyone is disappointed in him, his grandfather said he would not do anything else for him if he decides to do this...a couple of people that he really looks up to, is also being pretty hard on him. I am the only parent he has, if I think he can get more education from home than school who cares what everyone else thinks..right? And look at it this way; He can work a job full time and pay taxes for the next 2 years instead of goofing off in school. He said everyone hates him, and he let everyone down...I told him the only person he has to worry about letting down is himself...If he is happy and makes himself proud it doesn't matter what anyone thinks.
You can't get it through these kids head that school is important, believe me it didn't sink in with me when i was that age. Now I cannot get enough knowledge. Some kids can breeze through school and others it's like learning another language. I haven't purchased the legit homeschooling materials but I seem to think what i have had him do in the past few days is more than the school has taught him in 10 years.
Everything will fall together the way it is suppose to if he thinks positive. He will be taking his GED in about a month...I will update this post when he passes.
